Jesus was brought before Pilate, and Pilate asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?” After Jesus replied, Pilate asked again, “So you are a king, are you?” This put Jesus on the spot: he is a king, but his kingdom is not of this world.

One of the “new” ideas today is relativism. It has contributed much to the confusion of our times. It is the idea that all truth is relative —in other words, there is no absolute truth.

Pilate asked the question, “What is truth?” It's an easy question to ask, especially in the spirit in which Pilate asked it. But what is the answer?

Why enter by the narrow gate and walk the difficult path that few follow? Why not rather follow the crowds and take the easy road? Few pay heed to the answer Jesus gives.

“Stand in the ways... ask for the old paths.” There are times of challenge and change in your life when you will likely meet Jesus at the crossroads.

As another new year begins, and everyone is wishing you a happy new year, how are you going to help that wish come true? How can you become a happy new you in this happy new year?

Jesus asks what it would profit any of us by gaining the whole world at the expense of our souls. We should instead dedicate our soul to his cause. To save our soul we must lose it!
