The Parables of The Lost Sheep, the Lost Coin, and the Lost Son portray God as concerned about the lost, and willing and anxious that they be returned to Him. In this lesson, we will look at what the Bible says about lost souls. We will explore three key Parables that show God’s heart for those who are wandering and how He seeks to bring them home. 

The parable of the unforgiving slave illustrates the principle that Jesus also underlined when he taught his disciples to pray. Part of that model prayer pleads with God to... "Forgive us our debts even as we forgive our debtors" (Matthew 6:12).

As we begin to study particular parables of Jesus, let's look at the general themes that keep on recurring in those parables. Jesus might tell a new story to teach an old lesson. The parable themes are simple, yet they are at the heart of Jesus’s teaching.

This lesson continues to look at what John says about sin. In this lesson we concentrate on how Jesus provides the way to be forgiven of sin and to conquer it through him.

Breaking any commandment of God is sin. "Sin is lawlessness" (1John 3:4). “Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.”  Also, "All wrongdoing is sin" (1John 5:17) “All unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not leading to death.” In this lesson we begin to examine what John says about sin. We will continue this subject in the next lesson.

This lesson continues on from the previous lesson to look at what John says about love. Jesus wasn’t forced to die. He wasn’t overpowered, outnumbered, or tricked into it. He chose the Cross because He loves you and me. Hallelujah!

We begin now to look at John’s teaching on love. This will be the first of two lessons. John’s understanding of love has two main foundations: First, Jesus Christ is the origin and example of true godly love and without that love in us, we cannot be saved by him. Second, Love is obedience to God’s commands.

Let us now turn to the subject of truth as John deals with it in his first letter. John’s concern about truth revolves around two main things: There are antichrists in the world who teach lies and try to deceive, and John has born witness to the truth,
